Holidaymakers attacked in Margate:
The two were seriously injured.
Police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid, said one of the brothers was walking home from the beachfront at 1am when he was accosted by muggers, who fled with his cellphone and cash.
He went home and reported it to his parents. He, his father and his brother went to see if they could find the men. “The two brothers were dropped off and the father then went to search in another direction,” she said.
However, when the brothers failed to meet up with him as arranged, the father went looking for them. When he found them they had both been assaulted.
The younger brother had been stabbed in the head and his money had been stolen. They were taken to a Durban hospital with serious head injuries.
In a separate case, a 22-year-old woman was on her way home in Uvongo Terrace, Uvongo on Monday this week at 4.50pm when she was stabbed.

The man fled with her cellphone. A passer-by saw him and gave chase. The suspect dropped the cellphone.
“All attempts by security company members and police to trace the suspect were in vain as he disappeared in the direction of Masinenge,” she said.
Also on Monday, a teenager (18) was walking from the beach in Forest Road, Margate at 5am when a man approached him, pulled out a knife and threatened him.
