According to his wife Trudie Botha, she knew something was wrong as Botha hasn’t been himself for the past two weeks.

On Tuesday morning, she saw him in the garden and went outside and to see what he was doing.

She says she noticed that he was cutting electrical cord which he told her was “to make an extension for his office”.

He greeted his family at 7.40am and left the house.

Trudie says she dropped her daughter at work and was on her way to Nigel when he passed her.

“He drove past me and waved at me at 8.07am and was talking on one of his cellphones,” she says.

When she returned home at 9am, she went to his draw next to the bed and noticed that his bag, where he keeps his personal documentation and wallet, was still in the draw.

She immediately sensed that something was wrong as his police ID, his wallet and both cellphones were in the bag.

Trudie believes that while she was out, Jacques must have returned home to put the cellphone, which he was talking on when he drove past her, in the bag.

She went outside and noticed that the Stanley knife and electric cord were missing.

Trudie says she doesn’t know where he is, but hopes it is at a place where he can clear his head.

She opened a missing persons case at the Springs Police Station this morning (Wednesday) when he did not arrive home last night and saw a police woman who called several mortuaries to find out if they have any unidentified bodies.

These calls turned up no information which would indicate that he is dead.

“I will keep on praying that he returns home safely as his family means everything to him,” she says.

Due to the fact that he left his personal bag at home he has no identification whatsoever with him.

In the meantime a SAPS social worker visited Trudie this morning.

Barries Barnard from Hi5 Kids Recovery Unit was with Trudie to get more information that can perhaps assist him in helping to find Botha.

He is of slender build and about 1.8m in height and left home in a metallic silver Citroen Picasso.

If anyone sees Jacques, they can contact Barries on 081 575 4477.
