Beres Jobling’s murderer sentenced
Ernest Mashudu Nevhulamba (21) was found guilty of murder and robbery with aggravated circumstances and sentenced.
Nevhulamba’s accomplices will appear in the North Gauteng High Court again from 9 to 13 May for sentencing.
The five accused have been in detention since they were arresteds a day after Jobling was murdered on his farm in Skeerpoort on 1 September 2012.
Nevhulamba testified that he smoked dagga with two of his school friends before they strangled and beat Jobling to death in his home. They took his cellphone, wallet, ring and his bakkie before dumping his body in a nearby river. They were arrested the next day after they had an accident with the vehicle. They were taken to a hospital and the vehicle was traced back to Jobling, whose body was only found the following day.
Tshepang Mosito initially also pleaded guilty on charges of murder and robbery but later changed his plea, saying he did not know he would be put on trial if he pleaded guilty.
His case was separated from Nevhulamba and he was tried with the other accomplices Tshego Mosito and David Thebereng, who pleaded not guilty.
They are to be sentenced in May.
