Gauteng govt suspends Velaphi Khumalo with immediate effect
JOHANNESBURG – A government employee has been suspended after posting a racist comment.
Velaphi Khumalo, who works at the Gauteng Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation Department took to Facebook recently, where he called on black South Africans to do to white people what ‘Hitler did to the Jews’.
After distancing itself from Khumalo’s comments and holding an inquiry, the department's Nomazwe Ntlokwana says his suspension is effective immediately.
“We will be following due processes. He must be charged formally. He must go for a disciplinary hearing and the chairperson of the committee should be appointed and then we get to the verdict at the end.”

This week racism has remained firmly in the spotlight with a number of individuals being called out for posting racist comments on social media platforms.
