VIDEO: Attempted break-in at Crime Line boss’ house

Attempted robbery at Abramjee home

Crime Line boss, Yusuf Abramjee, on Saturday shared footage of two would-be robbers skulking around his home in the early hours of Saturday morning.

“Crime is everywhere. No one is immune to it,” said Abramjee to Rekord on Saturday.

“At 04:00 this morning we were asleep when I received a call from my neighbour to say that she was watching through her window as a guy was walking over my electric fence.”

Abramjee and his son immediately switched on the CCTV and saw two men. One was on his boundary wall and another was breaking in to his house though a sliding door.

Apparently scared by an unknown noise, the men immediately fled the scene.

“They seemed to be quite professional. One guy had a backpack with possible [housebreaking] equipment in,” said Abramjee.

He praised the quick response of the Lyttelton police who responded to his call to alert them of the attempted break-in.

This close-call has however, not deterred Abramjee’s crime fighting efforts.

Two years ago Abramjee was the victim of an armed robbery at the same house.

“I don’t care what people say. I’ll continue to make a noise about crime. I’ll continue to stand up against crime.”

Abramjee will also give a lecture about community safety in Lenasia on Saturday night.
