The two elderly people were treated for slight injuries on the scene and their son was taken to hospital for treatment
AN elderly Norkem Park couple and their son were assaulted and also became the victims of house robbery and car theft on Saturday, November 7.
The incident happened at around 9.30pm at their home on Dries Niemandt Street.
Norkem Park SAPS spokesman, Capt Lesibana Molokomme, said the three were aged 36, 72 and 79.
“The son arrived home at about 9.30pm and while he was still in his car in the driveway, a maroon BMW parked behind his car and six armed black men forced him into the house,” explained Molokomme.
Molokomme said they found the victim’s parents in the house. All three were assaulted during the robbery.
“The suspects took the victim’s white VW Scirocco 2.0, jewellery, a plasma TV, two cellphones and wallet. The value of the items, including the car, is estimated at about R800 000,”said Molokomme.
“The two elderly people were treated for slight injuries on the scene and their son was taken to hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged.”
Molokomme said the stolen vehicle was recovered in the early hours of Sunday morning at the corner of Reverend RPJ Namane and Etosha streets, Tshenelong Section, Tembisa. The car was taken to the SAPS pound in Benoni and was later handed to the rightful owner.
