A case of attempted murder has been opened after the owner of the popular The Bohemian, Pub and Music in Westdene was allegedly attacked with an axe on his property.

The incident happened at 2.30am on 1 November.

Sophiatown Police spokesperson Warrant Officer TJ De Bruin said the victim, Guillaume Rossouw, was going home when he spotted a man looking into a neighbour’s yard.

“The victim asked the man what was he doing? That is what triggered the attack,” said WO De Bruin.

He confirmed an axe was used and the suspect also had a lamp.

The man has been arrested but police could not confirm the relationship between the man and the victim.

“All the circumstances surrounding this attempted murder case are under investigations,” said WO De Bruin.

A man managing The Bohemian, one of Rossouw’s businesses, could not comment, but said, “Mr Rossouw is not in the country right now.”

The post on Rossouw’s Facebook page reads, “Dear all – thanks for all the interest, help offered, messages etc. Guillaume Rossouw is fine, except for the 20cm gash and a broken collarbone. We are disappearing for a few days to a neighbouring country – if it wasn’t Sunday, I would’ve said we”re f***ing off. We”ll be back on Thursday evening. Oh and the perpetrator has been apprehended and is in the cells. In the meantime, at The Bohemian it’s magic business as usual!! Right now, Mac McKenzie and his awesome orchestra!” http://northcliffmelvilletimes.co.za/212366/businessman-attacked-with-an-axe/
