WATERVAL ESTATE – Police find the man’s body on his bathroom floor
Sophiatown Police are investigating the murder of a man in his home in the suburb of Waterval Estate.
According to police spokesperson Warrant Officer TJ de Bruyn, a 66-year-old man was killed in his home on De Wet Street on 5 June.
“The police received a complaint at 10.17pm and found the body on the bathroom floor,” WO De Bruyn said. He could not confirm who had alerted the police, or if anything had been stolen from the man.
“The man was shot at least once and we found two cartridges on the scene. However, the post-mortem has not been done yet so we cannot confirm the cause of death.”
WO De Bruyn added that a murder case was opened at the station but there was an unknown number of suspects. No arrests have been made yet.
