An elderly woman was attacked and robbed at her home in Saffa Street this morning (Tuesday).
The homeowner has been running a tuck-shop from her premises for many years.
Information concerning the robbery is sketchy at this stage.
It is believed that 2 men entered the premises and held up the woman.
The robbers beat her up and attempted to suffocate her before fleeing on foot.
It is unclear what was stolen from the house, as the victim is traumatised and still coming to terms with the horrific ordeal.
Neighbours and family members were seen standing around, shocked and baffled.
Sharaj Ambulance Services were called out to the scene and paramedics treated the victim for moderate injuries before she was privately transported to hospital.
K9 Unit and police officers searched the area for the suspects, but no arrests have yet been made.
