A farmworker was gunned down on the property where he was employed, 20km outside Modimolle in Limpopo on Friday afternoon, police say.
The 41-year-old man reportedly told his employer that he was seeing "suspicious-looking" people at one end of the farm. His employer instructed him to investigate, said Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.
"He went to look, but when he did not come back after some time, the people on the farm started looking for him," said Ledwaba.
They found his body in the bushes in the farm yard. He had been shot in the head, behind his ear.
"It doesn't look like anything was taken from him," Ledwaba said.
Police believed two suspects were behind the killing. They were believed to have fled the scene on foot.
Investigations were continuing, Ledwaba said.
