’n Ma van twee wat in die polisieselle opgesluit is omdat sy die polisie se “tyd en geld gemors het” met ’n klag, eis nou skadevergoeding van R1 miljoen.

Ronita van der Watt (41) het Augustus na die Brits-polisiekantoor gegaan om ’n klag van opsetlike saakbeskadiging in te dien.

Dit was omdat die eienaar van die huis wat sy huur glo die deur afgebreek het.

Die polisie het besluit om haar eerder op te sluit vir meineed.

Dié klag is Donderdag in die landdroshof in Brits teruggetrek.

Jan van Rhyn, Van der Watt se regsverteenwoordiger, sê hulle gaan nou voort met ’n siviele eis teen die polisie.

“Waar het jy al gehoor jy dien ’n klag van opsetlike saakbeskadiging in, maar die polisie besluit om nie daarmee voort te gaan nie en arresteer jou vir meineed? Dit is absurd,” sê hy.

Volgens hom is sy kliënt erg getraumatiseer deur haar inhegtenisneming. Sy moes op die vloer slaap voordat sy borgtog gekry het.
