"As the AfriForum and TAU delegations arrive in Geneva to present the FarmMurders case before the UN on November 25, 2015, we take some time to reflect om the issue at hand.
The attached graphics represents the number of farm attacks against farm murders, as well as the number of farm murders compared to the national figure per 100 000 people in SA per year.
Also attached is a photo depicting Africa's involvement in international justice. You will notice from the map that South Africa is not only an ICC member but also African Court member. On top of the above, South Africa as a co-signee of the Rome Statute, is also qualified and entrusted to dispense justice in cases involving gross human rights violations and/or genocide.
Despite the huge responsibility to play its part in international justice, South Africa has lately sided with known perpetrators like Omar AlBashir of Sudan, who is wanted on a ICC warrant for crimes against humanity. In addition to refusing to arrest Al Bashir and aiding his escape from South Africa, the SA government is increasingly seen hosting known terrorist groups like Hamas.
One can truly ask oneself how committed South Africa really is to promote and defend human rights when from its own shores, its own citizens have now even launched a process to charge the government for aiding, abetting and empowering violent gangs to massacre its farming community.
TAJ will bring you the story as the story unfolds in Geneva."

The farmer was shot dead when he entered an engine room outside the farmhouse to inspect a generator after a power failure.
No arrests have yet been made in connection with the attack on an elderly farmer and his wife on their farm outside Odendaalsrus in the Free State last week.
Free State police spokesperson Stephen Thakeng said Jan Barnard was shot dead when he entered an engine room outside the farmhouse to inspect a generator after a power failure on Thursday.
His wife Carmelia was also attacked and shot in the hip and leg when she went outside to investigate. Four men who wore balaclavas at the time are wanted in connection with the incident.
Thakeng says the robbers forced an injured Carmelia inside the house. They demanded the keys to the safe. The robbers fled the scene on foot. Two firearms, an undisclosed amount of money and cellphones were taken.
The injured Carmelia managed to crawl to her husband after the attack. She cried for help for the entire night but nobody came to her rescue, Bloemfontein Courant reported.
She remained by her husband’s side until the next morning, when a farm worker reporting for duty became suspicious when he saw his employers’ dead dog outside the farmhouse.
Thakeng says police made use of trackers on Friday in their hunt for the suspects, to no avail.
He has appealed to anyone with information to contact their nearest police station.
In September, civil rights organisation AfriForum said there had been 44 farm murders since the beginning of the year.
“Since the beginning of 2015, 157 farm attacks occurred while 44 murders were committed during these attacks,” AfriForum Deputy CEO Ernst Roets said.
Roets said farm murders were a crisis, and accused the police ministry for failing to prioritise the crimes.
