Netwerk24 Dr. Brian Pole -- (translated from original Afrikaans) -A doctor from Kalafong Hospital in Pretoria was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress syndrome after he was illegally arrested, racially abused, teargassed and threatened with rape in a police holding cell after he was accosted over a number plate by a metropolitan police woman on 13 April 2016.
Dr Pole, 33, said he's already busy applying for emigration to canada.
Pole was driving to a surgeon for treatment of a painful arm when he was pulled over by a black female metro-cop on Nelson Mandela Drive in Pretoria.
He was displaying his number plate beneath the window on the dashboard because it had fallen off when his car was bumped in traffic earlier. He showed the police officer the medical report from his CAT-scan of his painful arm and said he needed to go to a surgeon urgently.
The woman started arguing with him and she started writing a ticket, demanding that Dr Pole had to provide his address "because otherwise she would have to arrest him". He initially was hesitant and fearful to provide his address but when he started tell to it to her, the metropolice-woman leaned over him to try and release his seat-belt. He pushed her hands away because he felt she was assaulting him. Then she hit him with her fist on his right-eye, and he pushed himself away from her fists inside his car.
She screamed: "officer assaulted, officer assaulted' and he was then dragged from his car by other metrocops and dumped in a police-van which took him to the Sunnyside police station.
The arresting policeman told him: “I hope you lose your f**king arm, you f**king white boy.”
The cells were filthy, he noticed the smell of urine and faeces. His stetoscope was kicked and now no longer works. The police 'introduced him' to some other men in the cell, suggesting they 'would rape him'. Three men sprayed him with pepperspray and a white policeman was too scared to help him, saying that it would be seen as 'racism' if he did - but the white cop did arrange to call a legal representative who managed to get Dr Pole from the police cells. The police 'formal charge sheet claims that he was 'arrested due to assault and for refusing to obey the orders of an official, and for crimen injuria. On 20 April 2016, the Pretoria magistrate's court dismissed the case against him. The police confirmed the arrest, denied the filthy cells and despite their lack of medical education, claimed that there was nothing wrong with his arm. He was kept in the holding cells from 11h00 am to 17:46 aangehou.
