One of the two black men who were being sought for the murder of American Catholic nun sister Mary Paul Tacke was found guilty
in the Mthatha High Court on 21 April 2016 of 'robbing and kidnapping her' -- but not guilty for her murder...The verdict was issued against a black man identified as Asiphe Ndikinda. Originally two black men were being sought by the police for her murder.A day after she was kidnapped, her body was found in a stream inside a deep ravine, her wallet, keys, money were with her body, and a 9mm pistol and cellphone were found in her car.The amazing 'not guilty of murder' verdict was announced a day after the trial by the national prosecution authority spokesman Luxolo Tyali.He said the High Court in Mthatha, East Cape yesterday had found Ndikinda not guilty of murdering the nun. He did not provide any further details about testimony at the trial - for instance what exactly was 'robbed' since all her belongings were found on her body, together with a 9mm pistol and a cellphone. The verdict was issued at the Mthatha, East Cape high court on 21 April 2016. Ndikinda was sentenced to 18 years in prison for robbery with extinuating circumstances, 5 years for kidnapping and two years for illegal weapons' and ammunition possession. Sister Mary Paul Tacke was found dead in a stream in Libode. She was kidnapped the day before shortly after she delivered food at the Thembelihle Children's Home in Norwood. The details of the trial remain unknown. It's not known what the judge's reasoning was for finding Ndikinda not guilty of killing the nun.
