"A TV and a PlayStation were taken," police spokesperson Lieutenant Nqobile Gwala said.

A police source with knowledge of the investigation, who cannot not be named as he is not authorised to speak to the media, said the man was found shirtless with his hands bound in front of him on Sunday morning.

“He was the caretaker of the industrial complex here and he had been dead for quite a while, we think. He had some pre-existing medical condition. While his hands were tied together, he had no other visible injuries, but we will know more once the post mortem result comes back,” he said.

“It would appear that there was forced entry and several items of value have been removed from the small room where the man lived."

Gwala said dockets of murder and house robbery had been registered and the police investigation had begun. The motive for the killing was not yet known.
