#MURDER? Gardener found two minors locked in flat with father’s body in the east of Pretoria

The decomposed body of a man found locked inside a flat with two minors in the east of Pretoria has been identified.

Police have identified the decomposing body of a man found in a locked flat with two minors as that of their father, Rekord East reported.

Boschkop police spokesperson Captain Marissa van der Merwe said police confirmed the deceased was the father to the two children.

“The man and the two children, a four-year-old girl and her five-year-old brother, were found by on Tuesday after a gardener picked up a bad smell from the flat.

“A psychiatrist and a family member arrived on the scene after relatives of the man were notified,” added Van der Merwe.

It is alleged the children might have been locked in the flat for more than three days.

“A neighbour said the last time they saw the man was on Sunday, which might be a strong indication of when the man died,” said an anonymous source.

Police said the mother to the two children was called and was making her way to collect the children from a relative this week.

“Police found no signs forced entry or foul play, but would continue investigating,” said Van der Merwe.

An inquest docket has been opened.
