Police have launched a murder investigation after a University of Pretoria employee – missing since Tuesday afternoon – was found early on Wednesday morning, with a plastic bag tied around his head.

The body of a 65-year-old man, who worked as a project manager at Tuks, was discovered in a toilet cubicle of the administration building on the campus.

According to Brooklyn police spokesperson Captain Colette Weilbach, the deceased was reported missing by his wife on Tuesday, 5 January after he failed to return home from work.

“A search for the missing man was conducted throughout the night,” Weilbach said.

About 04:30 on Wednesday morning, his body was discovered by campus security officers, Weilbach added.

“A plastic bag was tied around his head.

“Anyone who can assist the police with information can contact the Brooklyn police station on 012-366-1764 or Crime Stop on 08600-10111,” Weilbach requested.

The identity of the deceased is known to Rekord but cannot yet be published.

Initial reports that the death was a suicide, proved unsubstantiated. http://rekordeast.co.za/76373/body-found-in-toilet-at-tuks/
