#ATTACK? Unidentified SANDF Father saves family, black armed attacker shot dead

The father turned around and then shot the suspect in the chest. It is believed that the suspect’s father is a policeman

Clare Estate family is lucky to be alive after five armed and dangerous men stormed into their home, on Monday evening

One of the 5 black terrorists was shot dead after family were attacked with a pickaxe at home

According to Sydenham police spokesman, Cpt Myentherin Lazarus, the Spencer Road family was having supper at around 7:30pm when the father of the household, who is also a member of the SANDF had heard someone break the gate.

“He immediately took his family into a safe room but the men had forced their way into the house. While trying to close the door, the men were stopping them from doing so. The men then started firing shots at them. As his family pushed on the door, the father went to his safe, got his firearm and returned fire. Four of the assailants fled towards the front door, while one of them ran to the bedroom,” he said.

The homeowner ran towards the entrance, not realising that the suspect was still in the house. The assailant approached him from behind and hit him on the head with a pick.

The father turned around and then shot the suspect in the chest. He died at the scene. During the incident, the wife was shot in the foot. A case of attempted house robbery was opened. It is believed that the suspect’s father is a policeman. However, this has not been confirmed just yet.

Sydenham CPF chairman, Akoo Manser, said that while the actions of the member were heroic, he advised members of the community to not take the law into their own hands and to rather safeguard themselves as innocent lives can be lost. http://risingsunoverport.co.za/25339/father-saves-family-armed-robber-shot-dead/

The brutal attack was ended by the serving member of the South African National Defence Force, who struggled for his weapon while he grappled with the suspected robber inside the Spencer Road home.
According to a police source with knowledge of the incident, who could not be named as he is not authorised to speak to the press, two young children had been the first to witness a group of five men storm their way into the house.
"The young children had seen the alleged house robbers first and they had screamed. When their father heard, we understand that he had rushed to grab his firearm," the source said.
"The man was struck in the head by one of the robbers who was armed with a pick-axe and in the fray he managed to fire several shots in the direction of his attacker."
The man was wounded and died at the scene, collapsing on his back in a pool of blood, with the broken pick-axe lying nearby.
Police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane said all five men had been armed.
"While inside the house, the victim fired on his attackers and shot and killed one man. The suspects also fired shots in his direction and in the course of the exchange wounded his wife who sustained a gunshot wound to her foot," he said.
"The suspects fled the scene in a Mercedes Benz which had been parked outside the house. No arrests have yet been made," Zwane said.
