An elderly George couple has been assaulted and robbed during a home invasion in Denneoord.
According to police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, three men broke into the couple's home in Spruit Street at around nine o' clock on Sunday night, gaining entry by removing the burglar bars on one of the windows.The 66-year old victim and his wife woke up with the three robbers already inside the house.
The man was severely assaulted and sustained injuries to his face, neck and ribs. The couple was held at gunpoint and tied up before the men fled with jewelry and cash. Pojie says police are on the lookout for a blue Mercedes Benz that was used as a getaway car.
No arrests have been made.
