Woman assaulted in shopping centre

A woman in her fifties was assaulted in the Glenvista Shopping Centre basement parking on Saturday, June 25, when three armed men wearing balaclavas hit her over the head with a firearm.
The suspects, who are described as thin and tall, fled in an X5, taking her handbag, jewellery and cellphone.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and treated the woman before transporting her to hospital with head injuries.
“We are currently working with the Glenvista CPF and SAPS regarding the incident which took place at the centre on Saturday, June 25,” said Claire Morgan, marketing development for the Glenvista Centre Management. “To the best of our knowledge the customer was followed from Eastgate to the centre. The guards and customer were held up and items were taken by a number of armed perpetrators within the parking lot. As this is an active investigation we cannot at this time release further information. We thank the CPF and SAPS for their prompt reaction to the incident. We would like to reassure our customers that their safety is our top priority and we are working hand in hand with the Glenvista CPF and SAPS to ensure this,” she said.
