FW de Klerk says floodgates of corruption wide open...
FW de Klerk says under the current administration "the floodgates of corruption have been thrown wide open." During a speech hosted by the Cape Town Press Club and held at Kelvyn Grove, Cape Town on Thursday, 17 March 2016 the National Party (NP) politician spoke out on the state of democracy in South Africa.
De Klerk, who held office from 1989 to 1994, was unsurprisingly critical of the African National Congress (ANC). "President Zuma and his faction within the ANC are threatening the future of our democracy by seizing control of key state institutions primarily for the promotion of their own personal and political agendas."

The politician the addressed those he called "the many decent members and leaders of the ANC" and advocated open, accountable and responsive government. His remarks came the day after Deputy Minister of Finance and ANC member Mcebisi Jonas said members of the Gupta family offered him the ministerial post.
