Boere Krisis Aksie reported on 17 February 2016 that -- after at least ten break-ins in their home in Die Wilgers, Pretoria over the past four months -- Mr Randall Bason (70) was
found in murdered in his study - tied up hands and feet, computer speaker cables around his neck, stabbed in the arms, and hacked with a meatcleaver across his head.
His desk was overturned on top of him. (Boere Krisis Aksie did not report if anything was robbed).
Somewhere between 08h30 and 10h30 his attackers climbed through a window which had been left ajar.
No glass was broken, said his son Russel (43).
The struggle had started in the kitchen: four knives, a breadknife and a meat-cleaver from the kitchen were found at the bloodied scene.
Randall 's hands and feet were tied up in the study with cables and he was strangled.
"As if that wasn't enough, they also overturned his desk on top of him", said the son.
Randall, described as a teddy-bear of a man', had been admonished repeatedly to add more security measures to his home.
His widow Theresa (66) found her dead husband at around 11am after she had been in Waterkloof, exercising.
She left their home around 08h00 and half-an-hour later she'd let Randall know she had arrived safely.
