The Toti biking community and public are outraged by the senseless killing of Kevin Imeson (53), who was a victim of a hit-and-run accident on the Illovo 7 dirt road on Sunday afternoon, 30 January.

Investigations into his death are at a critical and sensitive stage.
Kevin was born in Durban at Parklands Hospital on 16 July, 1962.
He grew up on the Bluff and matriculated at Grosvenor Boys High School in 1979 before moving to Toti in 1987. “His good friend Danny Snyman introduced my dad and us children to off-road motorbikes about 18 years ago,” said his son Justin. “In the beginning it was a struggle to get him on one, but once the bug bit we could not get him off his bike,” said Danny.
Kevin married Cheryl Retallick in 1984 and their three chilldren – Justin, Wesley and Michelle – followed. His second marriage was to Karren in 2010.
“My dad has been setting races for many years now at least 15 years. He thoroughly enjoyed setting the races as he enjoyed giving back to the sport and just being on his motorbike, spending a day out with the boys and his friends,” said Justin.
The biking fraternity plans to name one the Baynesfield Dirtfest fun ride after him as a sign of respect and appreciation for all Kevin did for the sport.
“There is not enough space on this page to be able to describe the type of man our father was,” said Justin. “He was a loving husband, devoted father and loyal friend to many. Our dad was always full of life and he lived his life to the absolute fullest. He was a humble, generous man who was always a giver to everyone and he never expected anything in return. He was a brilliant teacher and role model to many. A genuine person with a heart of gold who always saw the best in life and the best in others, always giving advice and guidance.”
Kevin was an all-round sportsman and he enjoyed cycling, free diving and scuba diving, fishing, squash and running. He completed two Comrades Marathons.
He had an incredible interest in Land Rovers, having one of his own that he lovingly restored and drove with great pride.
“As a father, we could not have asked for better – he gave us everything we wanted and he was always there for us. We are so grateful to have been able to share the great memories that we did,” said Justin.
Kevin is survived by his two older brothers, Ian and Graham, as well as his older sister, Dianne.
