Cop killed transporting prisoner ‘lived for work’

The Limpopo police officer who was killed while he was transporting a prisoner was described as a hardworking man who lived for his work.

The police officer who was killed earlier this week, while transporting a prisoner to Pretoria has been identified as Detective Marius Bouwer (52).

Bouwer was allegedly decapitated when his car crashed into a wall on the N1 after he was attacked by the prisoner he was transporting, Gauteng traffic police spokesperson Busaphi Nxumalo said on Thursday.

“He choked the warrant officer from behind. The officer lost control of the car on the highway near the Stormvoël Road off-ramp and drove into a wall.”
