Pretoria –A police officer and his four accomplices will appear again in the Thabamoopo Magistrate’s Court in Lebowakgomo on 20 January 2016 for bail application after they were arrested last week Thursday for being in possession of suspected fake bank notes amounting to R3 million.
Winners Mashaba, a 29-year-old constable stationed at Namakgale Crime Prevention, Mmola Ngoako (30), Ntshepeng Steve Segage (31), together with two women Vuyisa Sobuswa (50) and Xoliswa Nkabi (41) were travelling in their blue Toyota Yaris in Lebowakgomo when they were stopped by the police who had just received a tip-off alerting them that the five suspects had counterfeit money in their possession.
Upon searching the suspects a schoolbag containing R3 million in counterfeit R100 notes was found with one of the female suspects who quickly confessed that the money belonged to all of them as they were on their way to share their loot.
The five were subsequently arrested and had been remanded in custody when they appeared in the same court on Monday.
Internal disciplinary process against Mashaba will commence in due course. http://www.accidents.co.za/2016/01/14/police-officer-busted-with-r3-million-fake-money/
