JOHANNESBURG – Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema says the red berets are preparing to occupy all Absa bank branches next year, in demonstration to show that white South Africans are not untouchable.
He says it’s the next instalment of the party’s economic fight for freedom for all South Africans.
Malema says the EFF is not seeking to replace white supremacy with black supremacy, but is advocating equality.
He says the party will start by targeting the bank’s branches, specifically because of its relationship with what he calls “the Afrikaner broederbond”.
He says there is a general feeling that white South Africans are ‘untouchable’ and he believes the African National Congress (ANC) perpetuates the belief.
“It’s a war against capital; white monopoly capital must know that we are coming for them. The ANC must kill us in protection of white capital. Let them do it the same way they did in Marikana.”
He says members are being mobilised to occupy Absa branches as part of a demonstration to force the bank to listen to its demands for economic freedom.
Malema says he will be leading from the front and he’s called on students to join the protest.
