Barnard sustained injuries to her head. She was attacked with a brick and a larger stone. Nothing was stolen!
Two 15-year-old youths of the youth care centre are held in custody and expected to appear in court on 25 November after
they had found the body of Mrs Carima Barnard, 50. The youths claimed they had been fishing at a nearby
dam when they saw a while Chrysler drive away from the lodge where Mrs Barnard was the housemother and when they
went there, they found her body next to her bakkie (farm vehicle) with its keys and cellphone next to her.
She was lying in a pool of blood. Police sergeant Yanda Ngcukana said the two youths claimed that they were fishing at the dam
at around 14h20 on Tuesday 24 November 2015. However after the police and farm-watch searched for the Chrystler and found it in nearby De Wets Dorp, and
questioned its occupants, they were told that the men had gone to the lodge to make arrangements for a social function at the lodge - which was one of Mrs Barnard's tasks.
Because the youths had bloodspattered jeans and sneakers, the police decided to keep them in custody until the forensic blood-tests results
determined whether they could be linked to Mrs Barnard's murder.
Mrs Barnardt leaves 2 sons, both in their twenties, and her husband, writes Maroela Media.

■ Dewetsdorp matron murder: Learner to appear
Dewetsdorp - One of two learners taken in for questioning last night in connection with the murder of a matron at the Jimmie Roos Youth Centre near Dewetsdorp is expected to appear in the local Magistrate’s Court today.
Free State police spokesperson, Yanda Ngcukana, says the second learner was released pending further investigation after both were detained in Bloemfontein.
The boys told police they found Carima Barnard's body next to her bakkie at around 14:20 yesterday on the school grounds near a dam. According to Ngcukana the learners told police they saw a bakkie leaving the scene. They allegedly went fishing at the nearby dam where Barnard’s body was found.
Barnard, who also managed a lodge on the school premises, sustained injuries to her head. She was attacked with a brick and a larger stone. Nothing was stolen.
The boys were questioned by police late last night. Blood stains were found on one of the learner’s t-shirts.
Headmaster, Johnny Erlank, told OFM News earlier that one of the boys, a 15-year-old learner at the school, confessed to the crime to police, while the 16-year-old boy denied any involvement.
