Cape Town - For four years, a Canadian has been handing out soccer balls and treats to children playing sport along the N2 near Khayelitsha.
But during a routine visit to the group of youngsters on Thursday, she was robbed of her handbag with her passport, credit card, house keys and cash inside.
Traffic officers on the scene said she had been visiting the grassy veld opposite Site C, Khayelitsha, for four years. The veld is along the N2, near the Mew Way off-ramp.
The woman, whose identity is known to the Cape Argus, had befriended the children and visits the site often.
On Thursday, she and her husband decided to give them rugby balls to play with, and some edible luxuries.
She was then approached by a man who asked her for money and then robbed her.
The couple reported the incident to the Khayelitsha police station.
