The entrance to Atteridgeville from WF Nkomo road has been blocked with burning tyres and rocks.

A source in Atteridgeville has told News24 that residents want Ramokgopa as mayor.

“They want Sputla as mayor. Church and Acridian Streets are burning,” said the source.

Another source said Mamelodi is also burning with more than 10 buses set alight.

Information coming out of Hammanskraal indicates that people are stoning buses and cars. It is the same in Soshanguve.

City of Tshwane spokesperson Selby Bokaba said a messenger had been assaulted in Mamelodi and a municipal car had been stripped.

"We have withdrawn teams on standby. If there's a service interruption, we won't be able to respond in order to safeguard the lives of our personnel and assets.
