Bus & train services cancelled due to intimidation & violence - Busses attacked & stoned.

Commuters stranded. Numerous reports of assaults from taxi drivers on commuters..

Schools and local business affected.

Businesses sending staff home.

 Roads blockaded with burning tyres, cement blocks, rubble & vehicles.

BELOW ARE SOME  OF THE AFFECTED AREAS: 

- Aliwal North N6 entrance & exit of town blocked - especially the bridge toward JHB. All roads leading into Aliwal North blockaded
- Stutterheim (North of King Williams Town & East London)  is affected - all roads in & out blocked 
- East London - Most roads blocked - reports of burning tyres & violent riots especially in the industrial area
- Many areas across Port Elizabeth 
- Kirkwood
- Uitenhage
- King Williams Town & Mount Coke
- R61 Junctions between Lusikisiki & Port St Johns blocked
- N2-Fort Jackson on & off ramp both sides blocked. Burning tyres
- R72 approx 10-15km before Chalumna on blind rise across the road from Port Alfred towards Eastern Cape - huge cement blocks in road

Postpone journeys and/or stay at home if you can. 

Strike is against Department of Transport & has been called by  (SA National Taxi Council)

The transport department is trying to solve the problem by drawing up a moratorium on the issuing of operating licences.

THIS IS NOT SUSTAINABLE AND OUR COUNTRY IS BOILING OVER WITH PROTESTS AND VIOLENCE AND THE BURNING OF SCHOOLS AND UNIVERSITIES!! 

IT'S ABOUT TIME GOVERNMENT PUT A ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY IN PLACE TO STOP THIS CHAOS!!!
