Friends, family and the community are shocked by the death of 29-year-old Kevin McAlpine.

One of the last people to see Kevin McAlpine alive last night was his insurance consultant who helped him work on his proposal and quotes for the prospective clients he was going to see later that evening.

Kevin and the consultant met at his new house in Krugersdorp North earlier yesterday afternoon as the meeting with the new clients was allegedly scheduled for 6pm in the Krugersdorp area. By 9pm, Kevin had still not returned home.

Krugersdorp CPF Chairperson Gert Jonker told theNews that Kevin’s mother called the Sector 4 Community Policing Forum at about 9pm and informed them that her son was missing.

She asked if CPF could help find her missing son because they last tracked her son’s vehicle to be somewhere in the Wentworth Park area.

“Within 15 minutes of the call-out, patrollers found the vehicle and closed off the area around it. Kevin’s father arrived on the scene after which he positively identified the body of his son in the boot of the vehicle,” Jonker said.

Patrollers then secured the perimeter and emergency services took over at the scene.

Kevin’s father stood helplessly in the cold until midnight watching police investigate the scene.

News journalist Marizka was on the scene and recalls the distraught father saying, “There goes 30 years of my life”.

Police have confirmed that they are now investigating a murder case and are on high alert for the suspects.

“We are on the manhunt for two suspects believed to be involved,” Krugersdorp Cluster Police spokesperson, Constable Lucky Matome said.

CPF members provided trauma counselling to the grieving father along with the family waiting at home until the early hours of the morning.

“This is just another example of how well the CPF system works and the success of our communication system. Within minutes we located the victim and were able to provide support to the family. We urge the community to stand together in these times to make Krugersdorp a safer place.

“CPF would like to convey its deepest condolences to the deceased’s wife and family,” Jonker concluded.

Kevin and his expectant wife celebrated their first wedding anniversary on Monday, 23 May.
