The situation in Kokstad is chotic. The town has come to a standstill thanks to black rioters. The local school and businesses have been forced to shutdown. Property is being destroyed.
Police are firing rubber bullets to disperse the rioting crowd that gathered near the Kokstad court this morning demanding that the people arrested yesterday for public violence be released.
Locals schools have been shutdown and parents are racing over to fetch their children. Motorist have also been advised to avoid the area.
According to social media the riots are expected to continue for two days.
A meeting between the EFF and representatives from Cogta and the Department of Community safety has been abandoned at the municipality boardroom for fear of the attendants’ safety.
