Pointless armed attack on Chancliff family
Roy Jacobie and his family, who recently moved to a plot in Bush Avenue, received unwelcome and armed guests in their home on 23 April. The family was sitting in the living room at around 6.30pm when the suspects simply walked into their front door.
One was armed with pruning-shears, and the other two with guns. The suspect armed with the pruning-shears immediately started attacking Roy, hitting him continuously.
“This is unnecessary. Take what you want and leave,” he calmly said to the suspects who did not say a word in return.
For some odd reason the suspects suddenly stopped, turned around and left the house before fleeing by foot.
At this point Roy’s wife then pressed the panic and patollers from the Sector 4 and 7 Community Policing Forum arrived within minutes shorty before the police did.
“The service we received from the CPF and police were outstanding, my compliments to Captain Mahlonomela, Colonel Mogobese, Constable Shivambu, Constable Mkhouza and patrollers on the scene. Had it not been for their speedy response who knows what would have happened.”
Since the incident over the weekend, the Jacobie family are strongly considering relocating even though they have only been living there for less than a month.
“I cannot sleep at night. I never ever thought that something like this would happen, but there is always a first time.”
Roy sustained injuries to his hand, where he had to get over 10 stitches, and fractured an elbow.
The three suspects were described as young, foreign nationals dressed in blue overalls.
