SA will parole Janusz Walus because he's in great danger of assassination in Pretoria central prison: the Polish-born Walus killed communist-party leader Chris Hani in April 1993 in his Boksburg driveway.
Praag reports that Hani's killer, Janusz Walus will be released on parole. This was confirmed on Thursday 10 March 2016 by Walus' attorney Roelof du Plessis.
The Parole Board had already given permission for the release of Walus from prison - but the release itself was blocked by justice minister Michael Masutha
who said 'further dialogue with the Hani family and the communist party was required'. Walus' legal team however maintained that Masutha was 'prejudiced against their client' and further stated that the Justice Minister's ruling was only due to
political prejudice and interference in the cause of justice'.
Walus and his co-political prisoner Clive Derby-Lewis (the former Conservative party MP whose stolen gun was used for the assassination, he did not carry out the act himself...) also was recently released from prison because he is dying of cancer.
Both aging white men's lives were in danger if they'd stayed in prison: In 2014 Derby-Lewis was seriously injured in an attempt during which he was stabbed - in the presence of Walus, who was also being targetted by a purported communist-party assassin who
was paid, it is being claimed to kill the two white men. A gang-leader who practically runs the Pretoria Central prison had issued the order for the double-assassination.
Other prisoners saved the two white men from being murdered in the reportedly frantic attack.
The SAPS claimed at the time of this double-assassination attempt that they 'would investigate' -- but two years later, no information has been published about the results of this investigation.
The two white men both were attacked with a socalled 'kitchen spoon', and Derby-Lewis suffered the full brunt of the attack and was badly injured, spokesman Manelisi Wolela of the 'corrective service dept' said at the time.
The gang-leader reportedly had -- up to that time -- ordered his gang-members that the two white prisoners must be left alone: but the communist party wanted the two whites 'not to survive in prison'.

The communist party and other political groups have erupted in anger at the announcement of Walus' imminent release, expected this month.
