An elderly man was shot in his house in Shepstone Road by armed robbers in the early hours of this morning.
The 57-year-old man and his wife were awoken at about 1.30am by a loud noise coming from the back door entrance. The man went to investigate and was met by two unknown terrorists inside the house.
Fearing for his life, the homeowner managed to get back inside his bedroom and lock the door.
The couple were then shocked to hear the terrorists banging on the bedroom door and trying to break it down. It is believed that the suspects used an axe in an attempt to break down the bedroom door.
As the door was being systematically smashed open, terrified for their lives, the couple armed themselves with a firearm. When the door was bashed open, the terrorists opened fire, hitting the elderly man in the leg and the hip.
