*Common robbery:
On November 14, at around 3.45pm, the complainant was walking along Main Street, at the petrol station, when three unknown males approached him and asked him what language he speaks.
According to the Boksburg North SAPS communications officer, Lieut Juanita Coetzer, the complainant responded, but the men grabbed him and started searching him.
“They took his money and wanted to hit him,” she said.
“The complainant spotted a Boksburg North SAPS patrol vehicle and stopped them. The robbers ran away, but the SAPS members gave chase.”
They drove around and saw one suspect. The complainant positively identified him and the suspect was arrested.
* Business robbery:
On October 27, at around 8.45pm, the complainant arrived at his office.
A few hours later, at approximately 11.45pm, the complainant heard his son screaming for help.
According to Coetzer, the complainant went outside his office to investigate and saw an unknown male pointing a firearm at them.
“A second robber entered his office and ordered everyone to lie down and tied them up,” she said.
“They heard more people talking outside and a truck entering the premises. The security guard managed to untie them.”
The complainant then noticed that two trucks, loaded with new tyres, were missing. The stolen trucks were later recovered without their loads.
According to Coetzer, there were around eight robbers.
* Suspects in hot water over perjury
On November 13, at about 8.30am, three males left a Johannesburg company to deliver stock.
The same day, at about 12.30pm, the three males arrived at the Boksburg North Police station, wanting to open a case of armed robbery.
“They alleged that they were forced off the road just before the Shell Garage in Atlas Road, Anderbolt,” said Coetzer.
According to them the vehicle was a white VW Polo, with a blue light on the dashboard.
“Three unknown males in civilian clothes, with bulletproof vests, allegedly robbed them of their cellphones, wallets and the company’s undisclosed amount of cash,” said Coetzer.
Const Xolile Ncengwa interviewed them, but became suspicious of the story they were telling her.
She called Det Sgt William Makgota to assist her.
In the presence of the driver, they searched the delivery truck.
“In the back of the truck they found the items of which they had allegedly been robbed, three cellphones, three wallets, and the money belonging to the company,” said Coetzer.
They were immediately arrested for perjury and detained by the Boksburg North SAPS. http://boksburgadvertiser.co.za/248704/cases-reported-to-boksburg-north-saps/
