Six alleged housebreaking gang members to appear in NW court
Brits - Six men who are suspected of being part of a housebreaking gang allegedly behind a string of break-ins in the Skeelpoort farming area of Hartebeespoortdam, are expected to appear in the Brits Magistrate's Court today.
North West police spokesperson, Paul Ramaloko, says the six were arrested at their hideout in Mmakau during the early hours of Monday morning.
This comes after a spurt of housebreaking and armed robbery cases in which several farm houses were broken into. The gang members then allegedly sold the stolen items in the Mmakau area. So far they have been positively linked to seven incidents in which houses where robbed at gunpoint.

Ramaloko says the gang allegedly consists of nine members in their late twenties and early thirties, with the remaining three still at large.

He says police recovered suspected stolen goods to the value of thousands of rands during the arrests. Items such as a crowbar and bolt cutter, which are suspected to have been used to break open locked houses, were also confiscated.

The men will face charges of housebreaking and possession of suspected stolen goods.
