An elderly woman was hit with a brick against the head this morning while armed robbers threatened her with her life.
“You have five seconds to give us the money, or we will shoot you,” the robbers demanded.
While holding the back of her head, with blood streaming down her clothes, she told the News how fast it all happened.
“We were working in the back office when we saw a dark new model car stop right in front of the office entrance. My colleague and I saw how they broke the window and enter the premises.”
It all happened so fast, she said, that when she wanted to close the back office door, one armed man had already pushed her against the wall and hit her with a brick.
Best Secure Armed Response was the first to arrive at the scene at around 7am this morning (19 October) with the police, as well as the Trio Task Team, arriving shortly thereafter.
At around 7.30am, the injured woman still waited for medical assistance, but Sector 5’s Community Policing Forum’s First Aid Respondents arrived and tended to her.
One of the petrol station attendants, Bekie Nene, recalled how the men climbed out of the vehicle with their faces covered with black masks.
“One of the men also pointed a gun at one of the attendants,” he said.
The armed robbers drove away with the money they stole out of the garage’s safe, leaving clients and the attendants to tend to business as usual while the rest tried to piece together what just happened.
